The West High School in Torrance, California has been designated a California Distinguished School in 1984, 1994, 1999, 2005 and again in 2013 and was named a California Gold Ribbon School in 2015. It has received the Excellence in Education Award from the United States Department of Education in 1984 and was awarded the national designation of Blue Ribbon School in 1984.

Extracurricular, enrichment and extension activities on campus include multi-level athletics career and technical education pathways, and dynamic visual and performing arts programs.

For its 2019/2020 season, the Los Angeles Virtuosi Orchestra is proud to collaborate with the West High School by featuring the talented music students of West High School Choirs in LAV’s season opening concert performing Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, RV 589, enabling them to be exposed to the unparalleled educational experience of working with a professional orchestra.
