West Hollywood Youth Orchestra
The West Hollywood Youth Orchestra was formed in 2018 by Maestro Nunzio Sisto, as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based on the conviction that film music can be used as a powerful and effective educational tool when integrated into the music education curriculum; it is a gateway for students to appreciate and perform all genres and styles of music.
The WHYO uses a 24-Part Method, an evolutionary orchestral layout based on the Broadway pit and Hollywood film orchestras, whose parts are specifically arranged to enable students of all levels to perform a wide variety of inclusive music.
In addition to featuring most of the instruments found in conventional orchestras, this layout also features a selection of instruments not commonly found in conventional orchestral layouts, including the piano, guitar, saxophone, and drum set, giving students a versatile and varied choice of instruments to play.
The WHYO is currently helming an after-school orchestra preparation program and advanced orchestra rehearsal program at Hollywood High School, featuring the possibility of outstanding students performing alongside the Los Angeles Virtuosi Orchestra’s professional musicians in future concerts.
